Antithesis

Antithesis

A Poem by CruxPanacea
"

It's a poem that can be put to rhythm, and it's about everything. At least I think I've covered all the bases, but I might have missed something.

"

I'm the anti-cure, a medicinal obscenity,
I am the disruption of Utopian serenity,
I'm the shadow veiled by light, you call it security,
I call it your false hope and dreams and never let them worry me.

I'm a killer out for blood, if it has a heart and beats,
I'm the gunman in the ghetto and the hustler in the streets,
I'm the player with a pair of aces hiding up his sleeves,
I'm everything you hate and more and never let it worry me.

I'm the cocaine in your vein, bringing you to better places,
I'm the liquor in your brain, numbing your life into stasis,
I am fame and fortune both, yearning for new fresh young faces,
I'm all the things you've grown to love and never let that worry me.

I am the stress that plagues your life and drives you to insanity.
I am the love you feel for him, I am the pleasure in the sheets.
I'm your doom and your savior, you're going to lose in both cases.
Because I'm your antithesis, and you can never banish me.
