Dream Tonight

Dream Tonight

A Poem by CruxPanacea
"

One of the many high points in a relationship described in my own experimental way.

"

I woke to cold sweat and again, emptiness,
But I've got no pain and there ain't no stress,
Yes I'm guilty of a sin, I must confess,
And I'm a man with no shame, it was your caress.

Was it just last night that we came together,
Weather, perfect, overcast with a hint of rain,
Just the way I like it, how it keeps me sane,
For shame, that tonight we couldn't be together.

So it's just me sitting at the fireplace,
Our place, where we'd wait out the storm,
Warm and snug like the love we shared,
I'm fairing alright, but it could be better.

And I wonder how you are, how's it going over there?
Halfway across the city and it's like you're right here,
So near, I can feel your warm breath, so sweet,
My feet are frozen because my heart's got all the heat.

What'd you dream tonight, angel of the sky?
I dreamt of what we share, of an apple in my eye
Did you dream that you could fly, wings borne by me?
Did you dream that you could try, and fly away wih me?

Cause no matter what the answer, you should know that all I need,
Is a yes or no, whatever, it's the knowledge that will supersede,
All the questions and concerns that cater to you and me,
Because it's the answer, yes or no, that is all I'll ever need.

Know you're the stars in the sky, the light shining through the canopy,
Know that it would be the world for me if I could make you happy,
So even if it's no, don't stress cause maybe it's the best for you and me,
But nonetheless I'm coming, ring in hand, to ask if you will marry me.
