For Her Baby Girl

For Her Baby Girl

A Poem by Treble

Her hands fell to her sides,
Desperation filling her every breath
As she read the last line
Of the tiny note, as small as
She felt at that moment.

He was gone.

She knew it was inevitable,
Despite all her prayers.

Her eyelids fell over her eyes,
A sure sign of despair.
Her heart gave into sorrow.

Her baby girl crawled in,
And crawled into her lap.
Mommy made her little girl giggle
While her heart cried.

But she knew one thing
The instant her little girl came:
She had to be strong for her baby girl.

So, wiping away her tears,
She tickled her daughter
And played with her.
They laughed.
