WalkA Poem by TrebleThis started as a journal entry :)
My body trembles as I lay beneath layers of blankets, distress and determination.
My arms remain intertwined across a lion-heart. An anguished “no” escapes my mouth. I grit my teeth and shut a salty drop of torment out of my right eye. The forbidden thought dares to enter my mind, and I swat it away like a fly that’s crossed me one too many times. My lips are firm, stern, having wavered between smiles and frowns all-too-often before. The pain feels akin to that of walking after a broken ankle has healed. I throw the layers of distress off of my body. I walk. © 2017 TrebleAuthor's Note
