Not Without A VoiceA Poem by Treble
Loving light in her eyes,
smile borne upon her lips, lips that would never open to a sound.
Her mother looked down. Sudden fear. Silent tears. In her hand, she held a picture. Her child. Newborn. In her arms, she held her child. Speechless. The child turned her head, reached her hand to her mother's cheek. Wiped away her mother's tears. "I may never speak, but I will say." A small smile upon her mother's lips. She understood. Her child would never speak, but she would say with the loving light in her eyes and the smile borne upon her lips. © 2017 Treble |
