Not NowA Poem by Treble
This is the longest we have gone
Without a word, Without forgiving. The joy of seeing me has left Your heart. I made just one mistake, But it was the worst, Now you'll never forgive me. This is the longest I have had To bear this pain. And I don't know if I can bear The constant pain that penetrates my heart. And every time that I look up, I see the twinkling stars Beneath the night sky. And all I do is look through them, And see the never fading darkness Just above the stars. And every time I look around I see the twinkling eyes I miss, Because you etched the image Of your twinkling eyes into my heart. And I know I will never let The memory of your smile Fade from my heart and soul. And mommy, I just must ask you, Where have your twinkling eyes gone? Where has your smile gone? You used to come home and tell me The funniest stories, Laugh freely, Squeeze me freely. Now, you don't have time. Every time I try to tell A little story, make you smile, You look at me, and tell me, "Not now." Mommy, I just want you back, Your twinkling eyes, Your so bright smile. I just want your happiness To penetrate my heart With a purity that Is yours only. Sometimes, I feel like You just don't have time For me. Ever since daddy walked out, Mommy, you've walked out on my life. Mommy, I want you back, Your twinkling eyes, Your so bright smile.
