Love the metaphor here Lynn, how cliffs put up with that constant caress, the tickler, that timed massage. Who in their right mind would say no!!!lol. Its just madness!!
I first read this, began to read it, as a sort of anahata universal love declaration of earth/God/life for broken or flawed humanity. Then in the middle I caught on that it is a catharsis and sardonic declaration of your personal strength in the wake of a caustic and toxic relationship. By the last line, I was certain of that.
So, I started over.
Oddly, though, the first three lines remained in my heart as life accepting us/me the way I am. My mind is as renegade as they come.
Unreal how powerful and intense these words are no matter how many ties I read them. Whatever is your catalyst and inspiration, you were meant to write, that much is clear.
now THIS is a victory march! makes me want to jump up and wave a flag. your personification is stunningly powerful, effective, creative. killer last line. he is surely withering like a deflated balloon. brava!

It's spiritual, all the trees and water everywhere. I am in love with Lake Superior, we have a relationship...laughing. I was a stones throw away from Duluth up in the Porcupine Mnts there in Michigan though :)

Cold doesn't bother me as long as the wind chill is tolerable :) I love all the seasons actually. Hi SF :) I have spent a lot of time loving Lake Superior. My aunt has a cabin up there in Hiawatha National forest on a lake called Dana. The air smells like pine there. I love it so much
The waves crash upon you...
Young maidens fall in despair...
Ships fail to pass you.
You decide the fate of wars and nations.
Sun sets and rises on the definition of your edge.
Yes indeed, you are most assuredly a "cliff".
I really enjoyed your concept! 😀
Forgive my exuberance by joining in on the idea. I loved this!
David, I am honored by your exuberance :) thank you so much, my friend
