Samples of Humanity

Samples of Humanity

A Poem by ...
"

All kinds of people

"
Some are grass that walked upon
will rise once more.
Some are lakes with changing colors
and disturbing reflections...
others, lumps of coal.
There are deeply rooted trees
cleansed by breezes.
Tiny wildflowers trampled by cattle.
There are, Hyenas and hurricanes...
and those slow, steady, rivers,
carving canyons out of rock.
Samples of humanity,
that nature speaks of us.

And all are carbon - all same - if only we could see that sameness instead of making a big deal about the difference. I liked the anthropomorphism in this one lynn. (Dont ask me to repeat myself, I wont be able to spell it twice)

what else have you got in that bag - first sleeping tablets, now a thesaurus ...lord lucan??
This is such a richly painted canvas of the world... and our worlds within... beautifully voiced... poignant and powerful... Now I simply must read it again!

You hit your head hard here!
Very philosophical words you've come up with that display the versions of humans & their thoughts. Liked to read something new & interesting with time. Good one!

The use of metaphor to describe different personalities is used well in this piece and forces the reader into seeing images and making comparisons with themselves and people they know. Definitely one to ponder Lynn.

Element of nature used as a metaphor for all varieties of humanity? Brilliant! Sometimes I read someone's piece and think, "Now why couldn't I have thought of that?" This is a classic example. Every once in a while I can write a decent metaphor into a poem's theme, kind of like a blind squirrel finding an acorn. You keep up with this kind of metaphorical write and you'll be in the same league as jacob and FT (and others, I'm sure.) Very nice, lynn! take care...dan

You certainly are my dear :))
what fantastic metaphor here----yes, these are the various personalities of people...and nature presents the perfect analogy within its realm.

:) I'm glad you like it jacob. Pleasure to have you by
people and nature,it seems to go together,we have nature to feed and comfort us,yet we tend to destroy it
people being like nature i guess could work,so i figure i would be the chunk of coal
but as coal i could keep you warm, light your way ,even be your eye shadow,,so i guess coal is not a bad choice

my pleasure lynn
See what I mean.... Wow ! That last line is an extra Beaute. I love the twist. Instead of us observing nature, you caught something here.... Nature observing us.
