I Can See Your Forked Tongue

I Can See Your Forked Tongue

A Poem by Cameron
"

A song from senior year of high school

"
Every time you open up your blank eyes,
I shed a few tears for the fate of humankind
This is all a pointless charade
Everyone inside this room is so afraid
that tomorrow will not come, and they'll be lost
in a future where their struggle has no meaning

So everyone became your best friend
and I can't believe it happened
Your viper's smile tricked them all so you could lure them in
You're the straw upon my back

What would you do if you were sober (in the morning?)

Every time you lock your door behind you,
you shut the world out, and you dwell upon your mind
I just can't believe the reasons why you cry

Pre-chorus
Chorus

So everyone became your best friend
and I can't believe it happened
Your viper's smile tricked them all so you could lure them in
You're the straw upon my back,
and now I'm broken into pieces
that are lying on this cold stone floor
This is not the right place,
and it's not the right time,
but it's all the time we have, so let's make the best of it
Burn your bridges behind you, so you can't be followed

What would you do if you were sober?
