In shadowed cornersA Poem by Trang Vu
I lived in cozy corners of your jagged heart,
which cut me when I tried to move closer, closing in on that pitch black room which held the why's and who's of your shadowed past. I lived on hopes and wasted time; I died of thirst from tears you never shed, starving from words you never shared. I tried to touch your heart but just got cut every time. I inked my soles to leave footprints on your soul, thinking that you'd follow them to mine. One day, while you were sleeping, I knocked on the door of your darkened past. She let me in. Love notes lined the walls. Pictures of you, with smiles I'd never seen, and her, framed and hung down the never-ending hall. You left your memories intact. She lived in a dark part of your heart, in a castle you had built. And I, dehydrated and emaciated, was just a flower waiting to wilt. I curled up in my corner. © 2013 Trang Vu |
