These Battles Aren't Your Synonyms

These Battles Aren't Your Synonyms

A Poem by Riley Justine
"

It is never a joke or just a word

"

To them they’re all just synonyms

For things we all go through.

“Wow, she’s so bipolar.”

“Quit being psycho.”

“Oh, I’m such a retard.”

“Oops, my OCD is showing.”

“Yesterday I felt so depressed.”

But little do they know,

Your mother isn’t bipolar she was just upset.

Your friend isn’t psychotic, they were just angry.

You are not retarded, you just made a simple mistake.

You don’t have OCD, you just like things to be neat.

You’re not depressed, you were only disappointed.

Other’s struggles aren’t your synonyms

They aren’t simple words to be thrown around.

You wouldn’t say you broke your wrist if it was only a sprain

And it’s not that difficult to apply that to another person’s pain.
