A Need to Run

A Need to Run

A Poem by trailcoyote

Have you ever felt the need to scream, to run wild through the trees?
You tried to climb up from the pit, but fell and scraped your knees.
That aching sense of closed in space-of boundless boundaries
What more do you expect from me with a human tendency  to bleed?

Have you ever felt the need to shout,
To yell out and be heard?
To scream and shout and speak and roar
To hope someone is there
That suffocating sound of silence, of thoughts falling dead while others are preferred
And yet my voice grows frail and thin
With each sequential word

What more should I do? What course can I take, if I can't even believe
That those whose friendship I desire
Would have any interest in me.
