I Wish I Could Write a Poem

I wish I could write a poem,
That would change the way they think.
Instead I sit here with an empty stare,
Until I notice my own eyes blink.

I wish I could write a poem,
That could explain the human race.
Why we do the things we do,
And the reason I love that face.

I wish I could write a poem,
That I wasn't embarrassed to read.
And when that day decides to come,
You'll be the first to see.

But if only I could write a poem,
That would make you love me back.
I wouldn't even read it to you,
Because its courage that I lack.
