The Bright LightsA Poem by TMThe desire for something bigger that most all humans feel at some point in ther lives.
She grew up in a city
But not the city of her dreams She fell short of acceptable Though she tried by any means And by the simple age of ten She had a taste for where she'd been And the bright lights were as alluring as anything she'd seen She was torn between the high life And the town she called her own; Which direction to go in, she never had been shown And when the crossroads were fast approaching And the time to decide drew near, The things she'd seen and people she loved left her feeling more alone So take solace in the knowledge of a better life some day, But be cautious not to drown in the debt you'll have to pay For investing all in wishing and the hopes of bigger living When it's time for sink or swim And you've got nothing to say. © 2012 TMAuthor's Note
