I recently read this article in New Scientist. I haven't given much thought to the impact of enhanced brains and society.

An interesting article.. I haven't given much thought to how such technological changes might effect society. Here again we have the have and have-nots. If everybody could have this... would humanity approach a state of utopia? Probably not. High IQ and access to information does not equate to compassion and understanding. Greed would probably still prevail.

 

 

I'd think this enhancement needs to be in the form of a pill. This pill would be very cheap and contain the necessary DNA to change the brain neurons.

 

My research done in 2006, concludes electrode impants are not the solution. They create scar tissue around the implant and become less effective with age. Also it seems unlikely that such impants could be bioengineered.

 

I know this sounds far fetched... but I think bio-transistors consisting of guess what, proteins, are the way to go. I recently read that a Japanese scientist sucessfully redesigned the DNA bases so that novel chemicals could be produced, ie, plastics!

 

If protein transistors could be devised, they could be configured to have trigers consisting of neurotransmitters. Maybe even transmit RF or light.

 

Anyway that's my guess.
