the center of the world

the center of the world

A Poem by toza
"

a vent piece about insensitive friends (though the friend turned out to be innocent lol)

"

"it's just a joke!" -- the weakest excuse

but is it really?

what a joke is to you, is not a joke to another.

the night i cried myself hoarse,

my mother's voice

(so sharp and cruel, ringing in my ears):

"it is shameful and dirty -- a sin most terrible"

"the thought of you being that -- it is unbearable!"

the night i stood in front of the mirror,

my thoughts could not be clearer:

"would it, oh would it be alright

if i jumped down from the balcony on this fair night?

the pain is terrible --

my breaking heart is unbearable."

"it's just a joke" -- you know of my pain, yet the excuse is still the same.

but is it really?

you have no regard for anyone's experiences -- except yours, clearly.
