Nightfall

Nightfall

A Poem by toujours

Yawns shake my body
All the oxygen in the world wouldn't be enough
To fill my aching lungs would take a titanic
But my sickness is my iceberg and I am sinking
Too hot
Too cold
It doesn't end
This constant
This hassle
A draft floats in, evoking shivers in the dog
sleeping fitfully beside my unmade bed
It's too early to be up
But too early to fall asleep
This is what nightmares feel like
The peaceful snoring beside me helps me drift off
But it's more of a trap than an escape
Night encloses me
