A FarewellA Poem by E. A. LideA song for my lover, a hundred miles away.
You're neither woman nor a man,
you're somewhere in between and to the left, headed south down these lonely city streets. And here I stand, at the end, waiting just around the bend, hoping you will come back home to me. No I cannot understand how it feels to be so free, to fly away on those wings- lovely coloured, feathered things. But I can watch you as you go, soaring out my window, as I pray that you will come back home to me. I've got some paper and a pen, I've got many words to spin, I've got many lines to write, and lies to tell. But in the mirror all I see is a bed that looks so empty, and a letter saying come back home to me. Now in this grand old world, I've heard there's no place quite like home. But if you've got to leave then I will let you go. But I just want you to know that you'll never be alone for I'll be sat here singing come back home to me. I'm still sat here singing come back home to me. Now there are a thousand reasons why I don't want you to go away, but I trust you and I cannot make you stay. Before you're on your way, there's one more thing I've got to say, and it's a song that goes please come back home to me. I love you so please come back home to me.
