In Society's Image

In Society's Image

A Poem by Brooklyn

In society's image I'm not good enough.

My hair is too short

My waist is too wide

My face is too round

My eyes are too brown

My teeth are too small

My attitude is too dull

My posture is too slouched

My friends are too weird

My dreams are too impossible...

The list goes on and on.

But who determines what is "good enough"?

Why is skinny better than fat?

Why are blue eyes prettier than brown?

Why is long hair more flattering than short?

Who determines what society thinks?

Because that person is wrong

and us as a society,

we are all followers.

We believe the lies that are thrown on televsion.

We expect the editing of magazines to be achievable.

So what are you going to be?

Are you going to be just another

person in society?

Or are you going to be an individual?
