A kiss I Should Have Missed

A kiss I Should Have Missed

A Poem by Brooklyn

I regret one thing from that night:

The kiss.

As I stood over him,

I felt like I needed a final goodbye.

So I laid my lips upon his forhead

and kissed him goodbye.

His skin was cold and dry.

It reminded me of the skin from a doll I once had.

And now that is the last memory I have of him,

that skin that felt fake.

It was almost like a final blow to the gut

to remind me that he was gone.

I've been looking for other peoples perspective on this topic, especially female (been through similar situation recently). I wanted to see different perspectives, other people's words and interpretations of essentially the same thing (a last goodbye or break up). It seems the one universal aspect is the hurt, regardless of age, gender, religion, nationality. You gave life to these words, they were written in a way I'm sure anyone from any background would be able to connect with, which is an awesome gift. It is also nice to know that you're not necesarily alone with how you are feeling either. It's humbling. Great piece man!

Thank you very much, that means a lot
I've had that same experience...OK it was with my dog....but my last memory of him was not the memory I wanted. It did deepen my grief until the healing power of time took over
