Solstice

Solstice

A Poem by toritto

Icy cold
frozen moon
hanging in a crystalline sky
as it was foretold.

Tree skeletons
appear if dead
save pine and ivy
holly berries red.

Snow falls
on frozen water;
the sun is gone
the fearful cower.

Fires burning
in little hovels
keep hope alive
the sun will come again.

Snow lies on scarlet berries
which shout to us “Have faith my children!
As we live so shall ye!
Together we shall see the Spring!”

Burn the yule!
Eat, drink and dance!
Celebrate the faith! Hope lives!
We shall see the dawn!
