Faded Photograph

Faded Photograph

A Poem by ForeverMoreAlone
"

I had a friend that read all my poems in my notebook and was sweet enough to leave little notes about all of them, written on torn up pieces of napkins. This one, all he wrote was, "I'll remember you"

"
10 years form now you find an old yearbook
You find a group photo of your old friends
"Oh, who's that girl?"
That's me.
I'm standing off to the side
Because I'm afraid to get too close
You don't remember my name
That's okay
I'm just that faded photograph
The faded memory
That you don't find important enough to uncover...
You won't remember me.
I'll remember you
But you won't come say i at class reunion
You're trying to read my name tag
Because even though you recognize me,
I'm still just that faded photograph
Your best friend...
Then I left...
We stopped talking...
I remember
But you don't remember me.

I think...you nailed it! Sad, and so often true.
