Heartbroken

I wrote this a couple years ago with my first real boyfriend...

I turn the corner to go home

The cold air bites my skin

I smile and savor the pain.

It's the only thing I can feel

In this sea of numbness

He's the only person I've let close to me in a long time

I knew I'd get hurt

I delayed it as much as I could

But he still broke my heart

Without so much as a hug goodbye

I let myself love him

I got hurt

My first heartbreak

All the others were false

I knew this would happen

But I let him in anyways

I can't do this anymore

I'll die...

Goodbye world

Goodbye my one and only true love...

But you won't miss me. 

You let me go and now I'm alone

I love you.
