awkward ending

awkward ending

A Poem by topsyturvy

Tears streaming across her pale, ashen face

Thoughts of a man from long ago

The hurt comes back in a sudden rush

She bleeds from the wound in her chest

Screaming in pitiful agony

The girl runs for him, calling, calling

For him to come near

A safe distance from her, he stays.

Afraid to show his broken face

All she wants is his tight embrace.

And all he thinks about is her soft lips.

Those that can make any man weak.

He longs for the sweet caress that only she can give

But his time is up.

He can no longer live

Beside the girl of his dreams.

His time is up. His time is up.

A new beginning is at hand,

She stares up to see a new light.

A face of hope and not of spite.

Can it be, can it be?

A new beginning, a new love, waiting for me?

Love lost was never found yet the pain is the same as if.

Very well written and sincere throughout. Speaks of the pain of loss, and the hope of a new beginning. Beautiful.

Wow! I like the brisk point point/counterpoint to this. Bleeding-heart romantic recall and clockwork mechanics colliding at a stoplight, as it were.

Aching heart. . .poignantly recollected, then slow-fading desire. . .victims of some peremptory pre-set fate: "Sorry, time's up."

Very effective -- not unlike a condensed version of mortality itself. And apart from new love hope in this life -- who's to say it's not the same situation at the end of one's terrestrial days?

Great work!
