Moth Dance

Moth Dance

A Poem by TopHatGirl
"

All they ever needed.

"

They fluttered,

separate,

each vying

for the light,

a race

for the warm

radiance

of the glow.

They were

naïve,

in a way,

of the

darkness,

and the

goals

to keep

them

apart.

In the

murky

skies,

they

were

alone,

wings

searching,

forever looking,

for something,

anything,

to fill the

aching

hole

they

always

felt.

The

light

was the solution,

they thought.

The

aura

of hope

in their

lives,

the

iridescent

shine.

They

never

needed it.

What

the darkness

never

gave

them,

was

each other.

Glimmers on their own,

they

could both

fill

what

they

craved.

All

they

ever

wanted,

was

a

partner.

To

fly

in the

black

nights,

to

hold

in the cold

inky

dusk.

This was

never

a

competition

for the light.

They

were beacons

already.

This

was

always

a

love

story,

of two moths,

who just wanted

to

dance

in the

shadows,

together.

Guess who's been watching So You Think You Can Dance!
There are so many pretty synonyms for darkness. Shoulda used them. Oh, well. I like this one.
