Letter to JustineA Story by TopHatGirlA letter to a penpal I had years ago.
Dear Justine,
I'm sorry I haven't written back. In three years. I really meant to. I hope you're life is being fulfilling. Unlike mine. I don't want to dump a truck load of self pity on you, because we've never met in real life, and someone is reading this aloud to you, since you cannot read it yourself. I wish I didn't need assistance reading your letters. I miss your curvy and elegant handwriting. I miss thinking it looked like a code I need to crack. I'm learning French, slowly but surely, so someday I might be able to read your letters. I hope you're learning English too, so maybe some day we won't need translators. I really liked having a pen-pal from another country. It was cool. I hope we can start writing to each-other again. I wonder about France's politics sometimes. Do you know about America's screw ups? You probably don't even know about that oil spill. Hey, maybe we'll meet someday. Maybe it'll be running at each other then embracing one another in a hug. Or maybe it'll be awkward, staring at our feet. Write back to me. Write to me your troubles of puberty, boys, this new idea of actually getting fat, and horrendous friendships. I'll laugh and help you out. I really hope we can be real friends. Sincerely, Bri © 2010 TopHatGirlAuthor's Note
