City Grit

City Grit

A Poem by TopHatGirl

Sea of suitcases,
 pavement troubles,
sidewalks full of the dreams of endless corporate drones.
Giving in to the sweet seduction of coffee,
twinkling building lights replacing the stars,
wafts of the scent of hot dogs and urban facts,
the gritty poetry of the underground,
the never ending chugging of the subway,
black and white reality of the windows,
rows of blank walls stopped in front of you,
a push through the normal to just be,
honking of the impatience of human reality,
mix of homo-sapiens thrown it together,
the unfinished works of art waiting to be known,
and the cigarette butts of what should've been, smashed into the streets.

Great free-lance poem. My city is pretty small compared to what you would call a city. And we're pretty sprawled. Big sections, you know, big land.
Great insight to your life.

This is an awesome poem. ^^

But my city is nothing like this, unfortunately. -_-
Or fortunately, maybe. I suppose I really can't judge. xD
