A Monolgue by Death

A Monolgue by Death

A Story by TopHatGirl
"

Narrated by Death, set in Nazi Germany. And yes, it was inspired by The Book Thief.

"
I wish that there was death for me.

   I am so tired.

Sometimes I scream at God to take this awful curse away from me.
   He doesn’t answer.

    It’s different every time.

Sometimes the soul is willing, begging for their time to end.
  It’s usually the Jews.

Sometimes they screech and please, wishing for another chance.
 Those are the mothers.

Sometimes they softly cry, waiting for it.
   The children.

Sometimes they do not want to die, but they accept it, their souls standing straight up
   I respect them.

But they always react the same way to the light.
    Dreaming.

If I ever die, truly die, I hope the sky will be lavender.

Author's Note

Why lavender? No clue. Wanted Death to seem more emotive.

Read The Book Thief. And then come back to me with a box of tissues and a story to tell.

Interesting concepts here. Try re-writing this even shorter, almost like a haiku.....

I like the last two lines the best.

What a good little story to get me interested in that book you describe. Although I also agree that WHY would death be so interested in lavender?
Great work.
