Blood Stains the Soil

Blood Stains the Soil

A Poem by TopHatGirl

Screams of terror,
tears of sorrow,
hearts shatter.
This isn't right,
against nature,
but we lust for it.
And loathe it.

Ignorance is bliss.
I wish I knew nothing about this
violence,
hatred,
evil.
War.

I say we are
lost
in a sea of
bloodshed.
Cowards,
hiding behind our guns.
Believers,
poisoned by
envy.
They had something,
we wanted it.

You read it in the papers,
you dismiss because its common.
It's okay to accept the reoccurring
casualties.

Maybe we're all insane here,
because I read somewhere that
killing another being
is something frowned upon.

Destroy and laugh,
my fellow children.
Rise against,
rebel,
rebel.
Slaughter thousands!
But I will stay behind.

It's the melody of bigotry,
the harmony of hate.
The sweet sound of victory,
is the same of the
wails of the dead.

This makes me remember this line "One death is news and millions dying is a statistic.".So very true. Why are almost all of your poems dark in nature?

nice work in my humble opinion, although you're right in the sense that not everyone would agree.
"You read it in the papers,
you dismiss because its common.
It's okay to accept the reoccurring
casualties"
those words are just so true
