Graveyard DanceA Poem by TopHatGirlA poem I wrote, what I feel today.
The tears have soaked into the dirt.
Making the soil feel cold and withered. Trees twist into hollow knots, And crows' cry their death song from the branches. The souls come out, from the tombs. Ready to dance, ready to sing. I was there, a witness to all. Watching their graveyard ball. They all pick up the dead flowers, laid there for eternal rest. Throwing the petals, around the area. They seemed happy. Almost, free. The moon lit their serenade. It almost seemed romantic. Their lovely song and dance, made my heart cry and eyes water. They grab my hand and pull me in, I feel the rhythm and beat, but there is no music. A presence surrounds me, one of love. One of sorrow, one of lost. I can sense their pain. But I know they abandon it, for only one night. After hours, the sun peaked its head out. I watched as the spirits fluttered back to their resting. As dawn rose, I slowly up and went. Leaving my soul behind, so I can dance with them again. © 2010 TopHatGirlAuthor's Note
