Writers block is an evil monster, watching you write. One is on me right now laughing at my terrible attempts at writing. "GO AWAY!" I scream, but it's no use, I have no ideas. "Something inspire me!" I yell to nothing in particular. I hear writer's block in the distance, howling with laughter.
"The only way to make me go away is to write...." It says eerily. I throw a book at the wall. Why? Why must I be doomed to having no ideas? My blank computer document waits patiently for me to write some bestseller, a creative masterpiece. I growl at it. Yes, I growled. I'm that angry. I have to write something.......or do I? Must I submit myself to the evil monster by staring at a blank computer screen?
No.
I click the little X on the corner and Word is instantly gone. The power button is pressed and my computer screen goes black. I get up and go outside. And I hear the writer's block cries in the distance, then silence.
Whenever I have a writers block ,I select two completly unrelated elements and try to weave a story together. Not that it gives me a good thing everytime, but the way of weaving gives you a completly beautful thing altogether to get your mind up and running.(2) Look for two things around you and make a list of all the possible things whch you can write about them. This will give you a cliche list for both of the things. However, You will actually interchange the properties and then write about them.
Haha, such an acurate portrayal of the monster that is writer's block, I wish I could help you with your monster but I've got my own little monster on my shoulder! The best thing I can tell you for curing it is to just step away and enjoy life for a minute, take a look around and something will came to you! Good luck from one writer to another! And good write! Amazing write for a girl on writer's block though! ;)
I definitely know how annoying writers block is, and you did a great job of describing how completely agonizing it truly is, especially for someone who feels that need to write.
This probably sounds weird, but a lot of times when I have writers block I kind of search myself for the emotions I'm feeling. Then I write them all down in a sort of list (kind of like I did on my profile) and think of situations to match each emotion. In what situation could someone feel that emotion? Once you come up with a suitable situation for the emotion you're feeling or have felt, try your best to write about. After all, you'll be able to relate to the emotions of that situation.
Hopefully this helped! I enjoyed reading your piece :)
