Rust

Rust

A Poem by Olivia H.
"

.

"

i live in a house of lies,
cold glass you can see through.
and i tell myself
i don’t need her
but all promises have been broken
long ago,
just like the old heart
rusted and dusty,
sitting in my dark chest.
when i laid my eyes on you,
i went to work fixing it
finding spare cogs and screws
but it has been no use.
it hangs by a loose vein,
and you could cut it if you wanted
because your love is a knife,
delicate and shining in the sunlight.
you would rid me of this weight,
and i would rid you of your worries.
