You're in my Blood

You're in my Blood

A Poem by Jodie

i'm drunk and it feels like i'm with him.
it's the same, really,
my head is spinning
in time with this globe,
my heart pounds
in time with clumsy feet
struggling to keep up with a long stride.

there's a heavy feeling behind my eyes
and a giggle on the tip of my tongue,
rum-and-coke flavoured
and belonging in his mouth.

looking into his eyes confuses me.
a rush of emotions, endorphins;
fluffy white fox-shaped
clouds over my judgement.
tipsy on thoughts of
how his arms feel when they
wrap around me,
i will go home and rub lotion into my hands,
letting it soak through the cracks in my skin,
burrow there, make a home,
like he did when he first looked into my eyes.

the memory burns in my veins
with every pulsating heart beat.
course through me, take over.
you're a natural painkiller,
but an overdose could still kill me.

Oh I like this one. Has a sensual and alluring feel to it! The cautionary lines at the end make it perfect. Must avoid obsession and getting to addicted to those wonderful feelings. Cheers!
