Forever and Always

Forever and Always

A Poem by Toni-Lynn Benoit
"

This is a poem about love and loss. You never know how long you will have with a person. But all you can do is focus on the time you have with them and cherish it.

"
Forever and Always
By: Toni-Lynn Benoit

I met you in the most unexpected way,
It wasn't even something that I could have ever anticipated.
And all I remember from that day,
Is that I was living a life that was dissipated.

We started talking and I just went along with it all,
To be quiet frank I wasn't sure what I was feeling.
Then one day I sort of just hit a wall,
And you were the one that was there to help me with the healing.

Then I hit this stage of confusion,
One were I didn't want to let my heart win.
I told myself this is all an illusion,
And that I will not soften my skin.

But that was exactly what I did as time went by,
I started to let you in.
And looking back I now see why,
I show you my original skin.

You got to know me and made me feel special,
Something no one has ever done.
For you I came out of my shell,
And started to come undone.

Feelings I have never felt came when I met you,
It was almost like meeting you wasn't chance.
And I honestly had no clue,
That you would put me in this sort of trance.

And now here I am in the state of denial,
Thinking "This can't be how it ends".
This seems almost like a mistrial,
Because now I am losing an amazing friend.

I don't know what will happen and I will never actually know,
All I know is I need to trust.
And even through this time of woe,
Trusting God is a definite must.

You will always be in my heart,
That I can tell you for sure.
Even if I had the chance to restart,
My love for you would still endure.

Author's Note

Toni-Lynn Benoit
This is a poem that I want to give to my friend and my first love. He just found out that he has cancer and his liver is failing. He is only 21 and I don't know how long he has left to live. For starters, please pray that God will heal him if that is his will. And also please just give me some insight on this poem and if you think it portrays the feelings that I want it to.

May God heal him. Thank you for sharing the love and compassion...:)

a deeply poignant write. I do believe in healing - but I also believe that this poem is something you should definitely share with your friend while he can still read it. I wrote a poem for a family member and wanted to share it with her - but was advised not to - it was read at her memorial - and then I was told she should have heard it herself. peace to you and your friend. this poem would bless him
