Sever

Sever

A Poem by Thomas J Peltier

Chains wrap up my wrists,

One link for each sin that got me here.

The light flickers,

Like the decisions that shed the tears.

The empty wall,

Is like the trust people have in me.

The barred window,

Reminds me, I will never be free.

Away for live , Forever to stay, I was wrong, Sever my ways.

My one phone call,

Went unreturned by my own mother.

A new star shines,

To remind me why I suffer.

I will pray to it,

For the forgiveness of what I’ve done

I wasted this life,

I won’t get another one

Life away, Stay forever, Wrong was I, My ways to sever.
