The Perfect Stream

The Perfect Stream

A Poem by Nisreen

As wishes took their place
Curving on the meander

Two thoughts sat in harmony
Telling the light to bend

On every moment of peace
Stars seemed to be that much closer

Lids fell in may
Budding the fruit of September

The man stood by a fork
Division of life before him

A task of looming tune
Tanned the side of his soul

Knowing a heart so familiar
In poetry or in prose

He wrote a story of love
Held in mesh dug in sand

Dreaming away tonight
He lit his lantern of hope

Listing all his desires
Placing them in her through thought

She heard of life in him
I guess roaming

Left open
Or tucked into his grove

it is so nice to see couplets written .. before even reading i have an impression of concise deliberate word choices ..there is comfort in the stability ..this is my favorite ..love it i do! :
"A task of looming tune
Tanned the side of his soul" ...
the pic reminds me of a stream i hiked up in Colorado ... in the 60's :)
your closing is very interesting ... tough decisions to be made .. i think he's the traveling man .. all wrapped up in love ..and she ... left with a decision of her own .. the power of poetry (one aspect) is that the sensitive reader does "get to know" the author in bits and pieces ..here and there ... almost intimately ... we do spill our guts at times eh!? really like those lines i quoted of yours!!

Thank you so much E
This is a lovely poem. The photo is well chosen. I love the blending of nature and the human condition. When it comes to a fork in the stream of our lives, we do not have the luxury that water has, we must pick and hope and believe we took the right path. Thank you for sharing this writing.

Well done.

It reminds me of the way Jim Morrison used to write. He was a poet before "The Doors"

i never knew that ...... :)
Wow.
This is stellar work. You are very interesting & unique yourself. I'm really becoming a fan of your work. It leaves me feeling as if I am at an orchestral concert or something. It also leaves me feeling comforted, with thoughts that others are lost -- together -- in this "maze" of life.

I wish I saw your style more often, but I am glad I get to experience it through your works.
