Illumination

Illumination

A Poem by Nisreen

Figures dared to haunt
A flame of light

Only to seek
a part of its scope

Through the days
of floating about

All that could be achieved
was a black shadow

Kindling love
carrying hope

Hearts filled with memories
Spreading a smile

Only to reach
some form of truth

The light immersing
a field of souls

Learning to give
And partake

This light

Never grown a frown
For everything passed it

Seldom touching its body
instead deflecting

the nature of its type

reminds me of the wick of a candle, fragile in its fight for giving light in the dark of night.

The symbolism of light is very common in poetic verse.

A light in the darkness, a flame of hope, sunlight and beams on a cloudy day....all illuminate the dark and bring light into the soul.
Does light reach us? I was asked recently. Yes it does. It embraces us, provides us with warmth and guides us through the dark pathways that we sometimes find ourselves on.
A very hopeful piece of writing, one that illuminates the heart of the reader. Great, as always.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...oh the light ... any darkness however so slight can never attain it ...like opposite poles of magnets repelling ... i like this a lot! and we do dare to try don't we ...as much as our empty need demands us to ...your title seems so perfect to me ..i believe in our attempts we do gain some bits of wisdom and understanding that help us as we continue the assault as much as our passion can deal us ..the trick is to not become misguided eh!? heavy reading for me this morning my friend ..i like it a lot! perhaps way off base but that's me ken of it ;)
