Serendipity,
The first line is a fitting note to the simple but profound act of being "Grateful." The luckiest gal alive." How often do we allow ourselves to think this way? Life can be much more complicated or is it really? Then you write, "counted her fingers and all ten toes." This is lovely. We do have much to be thankful for. How much of life emanates from an inner stream of attitude? Then again, "With you on each side." We do the best with what wev'e got. What have we got? I know things can be so hard but with time hopefully life will bring some softened and rounded corners that have been sharp and harsh. Just extra ordinary. I have no words to explain what feeling this poem gave. It made me dig deeper into my faiths and culture about Love between the creation and nature. I love this poem big time. Thank you for sharing it.
I love this...very moving and uniquely paints a portrait of
gratitude towards someone's heart more so than appearance sake.

I get a lot from this...thinking of the baby that once delivered the parents count ten fingers and ten toes and there hearts fill with gratitude....thinking of an accident that survived the patient awakens to check if all is well...perhaps, in essence, what this speaks to me of (as the title says) is gratitude, in anything, in everything, to know we are and will be okay.
