give a little consideration, your words could be hurting the next person.

You think it’s nothing

what you’re doing

only if you see the tears

flow from their eyes

whom you’re wounding

 

You think you’re just joking,

only that people hurt

who bear the brunt

of your comments

 

the hurtful words

piercing like a sword

 

the hateful looks

making them puke

 

the scornful jokes

at another s  heart they poke

 

the sarcastic remarks

hitting like a axe

 

you are just so mean

as though to hell you’ve been

I agree words are more hurtful than actually getting punched or hit in anyway...when a person hurts someone with words...they don't know how to express themselves in any other way...they just think picking on someone is the way to make them feel better...but you never know what a person is going through to make them like that...they could be having problems at home that they don't know how to get through...they can't talk to anyone about it...you never know unless you truly get to know a person...but you can't get to know them all that well...they just don't want to get to know people before they start to judge. I liked this poem...it is a wake up call for most people. They should watch what they say to others you never know what is going through someone's head when you talk to them. Thanks for sharing.

It is true that words can sometimes be more hurtful than even a hard slap on one's face. In every situation, we must learn to control our meanness and learn to maintain balance between ourself and the second person with whom we are interacting.
