Cold and Dark

Cold and Dark

A Poem by tomboy
"

Did this in my spare time. Critique. Whatever.

"

Cold and Dark

Why didn’t I ever listen

To the warnings they gave me

About you?

They told me, they warned me

That I shouldn’t play with fire

That I was bound to get burned

Bound to feel the pain

Oh why didn’t I listen?

I said that they were wrong

But I knew that they were right

Did I even care?

Or was the brief warmth of your flame

Enough to make me forget about the consequences?

Did I think your light would last forever?

Did I ever stop to wonder what I would do

When you found a new soul to brighten?

A new heart to kindle?

A new person to love?

I became so accustomed to your light

To your ever glowing sun

To your eternal warmth

And now all I have is what was left in your wake:

All I see is the darkness

And all I feel is the cold.
