BuzzBEEEEPBuzzzz

A Poem by Tom Q

Pouring water and thunder announced but still unexpected

A flash of light introduces me to a world I have since forgotten

Three cords and a thump have fallen silent in the room

Alarm begets panic as my stunned senses slowly detox.

A dusty candle drafted into service

My frantic mind in search for a substitute

Switches turned on and off in desperate hope

I mournfully stare at the fuse box willing it to life

Impatience grows as I am forsaken by a setting sun

The blue glow from neighbor’s windows has not arrived!

 Silence

My soul mate that I thought was long lost

I adulterated your love with noise masquerading as entertainment

Entertainment disguised as knowledge

I threw away priceless moments

Discounting their worth.

Noise is at the intersection of all the sounds I love

A perpetually occupied mind is silenced by thunder
