Black Heart

Black Heart

A Poem by Tom Q

I never cried

When mother died

But I was there

As disease claimed victory

Hardened hearts her legacy

Passed down

I could only imitate passion

Love in nonchalant fashion

Until you smiled

And accepted me

Without condition

Then I knew

All loathing was through

And that I love you
