Dressed to perform Salvation Army chic Not wanting to conform Struggling to be unique My writing is lame Scorn, mockery, so frightened I must entertain Be safe, read John Lydon Lust for strangers to agree A retreating sense of self What have I turned out to be? I put my gifts on a shelf Self-homogenized oh so safe Life ends it does not wait
