Dementia

Dementia

A Poem by Tom Q
"

They really thought it was what was "best"

"

I don’t want to go

But the kids, you know?

I vowed to stay by your side

And now others will decide

I am guilty of getting old

Still, I have the same soul

I don’t want to go

I can’t cushion the blow

The “center” is far away

Dementia makes it difficult they say

It’s the best facility for this

The kids will be less inconvenienced

I just want to make my own way

Listen, please to what I have to say!

Exiling me but for what reason?

This is nothing short of treason

I thought we were family

I don’t want to go

I love you so.
