That Same Old MelodyA Poem by Beautiful IntentionsShh… Be as quiet as you can… Don’t let them hear it Don’t ever let them see it
Sneak into the bathroom Behind the comforts of a closed door Embrace yourself in a shadowed corner Crawl into the warmth of your bed Nestle deep into silent pillows Hold them near to you as if… As if cotton intends to hold you in return Smile just a little brighter Fashion a few more tiny white lies “Oh, there’s just something in my eye.” Turn off the radio Look away from the television Put down your phone Shut your laptop Just don’t think for a moment Just don’t do it to yourself Bite your quivering bottom lip Do it right now because they are coming
But whatever you do…
Don’t let them hear it Don’t ever let them see it
Where is your mascara? And don’t forget the bags under your eyes Pucker those cracked lips for something pretty in pink Curl all that lustrous dark hair Slip into those white-tiger pumps Laugh with everything you have left Maybe even bat those thick lashes Dance it out… Just dance it out, girl… Remember not to drink too much Because they will talk about it That word which will break your heart It starts with an ‘L’ and ends in ‘E’ Tell them to take away your phone Because you’re doing it again Searching for someone who isn’t there Bite your quivering bottom lip And hurry as they are coming
Because whatever you do… Whatever you do...
Don’t let them hear it Don’t ever... Not ever let them see you cry © 2017 Beautiful IntentionsFeatured Review
