Goodbye

A prayer for you...

In these final moments

As the crushing weight of grief

Makes it impossible for one to breathe

And the thoughts of what could have been

Promise days and nights given over to tears

I render one last prayer for you…

 

When loves knocks, may it be a love like mine

May they see within you all that I have seen

May they embrace your deepest of insecurities

Wish to gently balm your every wound

Have eyes that can look beyond the darkness

And call forth the great warmth of your shine

May they weave wonders with magical fingertips

To forever captivate your insatiable soul

Hold you close against their comforting heart

During moments of both weakness and strength

Cherish you as if their devotion adorns golden wings

And make love to you with passionate intentions

If only to take your breath away

 

When you find them, may you treat love better

May you expose your beautiful eyes to all that you have

Choose courage in times when fear longs to suffocate

And ask only for that which you are willing to give

May you show sincerity, show patience, show compassion

Be confident in opening your heart to a world of possibilities

And love so thoroughly that you cannot bear the silence

May your motionless feet discover the desire

To cross any distance for them when they are in need

To look upon them as if there is nothing above them

And learn what is means to adore another gallantly

Then may you softly caress the tears from their cheeks

If only to take their breath away

 

For in these final moments

As loss grips so ruthlessly

Making it difficult for one to speak

And dreams remain merely dreams

Promising days and nights given over to heartache

I say this one last thing… Thank you...

This is beautiful... What a comforting and peaceful prayer the poet has sent into heavens for the person she loves... I think it speaks of inspiration, it speaks of how to embrace love, life and it's unlimited possibilities... There cannot be a more beautiful gift we can give to a person we love than give them love through an unconditional way and pray that they may find strength and love and courage at every stage of their life... One of most beautiful poem from you. The ways of departure from a person to whom you have respect, love, feelings and emotion. I also like your balanced thoughts for your lover/beloved. It is good behavior from a lover for his/her beloved to have respect and positive thinking. It hardly happens to anyone in matter of relationship/friendship. Mostly when a relationship/friendship ends, an unnamed relationship develops that you can not call enmity or friendship. It is a very nice writing particularly in its lovely thought. Great job. My favorite parts are: "Promise days and nights given over to tears," "May they weave wonders with magical fingertips," "chose courage in times when fear longs to suffocate," and "as loss grips so ruthlessly". I thought these lines were most impressive. I like the size of the stanzas and the way you structure this piece. Look forward to reading more of your work.

A beautiful panegyric or or maybe an elegy - for a loved one. The sentiments speak as much of the warmth and experience of your own heart as they tell of the depth of need and almost insecurity of the one who is leaving. 'May you expose your beautiful eyes to all that you have' - a delightful thought, and one I considered at various levels, not least the bare truth of the mirror image. Prayer is an exercise of the spirit and here the spirit sores above the aching loss to express thoughts only of one who has loved, of one whose heart contains a world of possibilities...
