My Wanted World

My Wanted World

A Poem by Jane Lockheart

In my wanted world,
Abuse is unheard of.

Physical.
Verbal.

Does it matter?

Slapping the pride off someones face.

Orally taring a person to shreds.

Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But words will latch on,
rip me apart,
and take me down.

The words,
they will walk away,
unharmed.

The winner.

I on the other hand,
will lay there.

Crushed.

Defeated.

Feeling the weight in my chest,
knowing that this feeling,
will always be remembered.

you said it perfectly, the sticks and stones thing i think has always been used by people unwilling to be honest about their own pain on the inside. words hurt... way more than physical wounds even sometimes... the intention of someone's words or even the intentions behind their physical abuse is what takes the longest to heal, and sometimes never does.
