Gone

Gone

A Poem by Jane Lockheart

Gone

Standing in the field

Wind kissing your face

Night begins to fall

Stering into space

Stars dance up in the sky

Keeping a steady pace

And now they start to come

Who can win this race

They say thay want you back

That's not the truth at all

So listen to my advice

Reach as high as you can

Don't let your dreams come to end

Whose to say you can't

Be free to what you want

Don't let them hold you back

Pull you into the black

Leave them behind

And all your scars inside

Now you are gone

Now you are gone

You've found your happy place

Where you can live in peace

Actually have a life

Learn to believe

Do what you want

Be who you want to be

Don't hide who you are

In the shadow of the dark

It's a beautiful thing

Like a diamond ring

You are finally free

But that doesn't stop the dreams

Of who they want you to be

They say they want you back

But that's not the truth at all

Listen to my advice

Reach as high as you can

Don't let you dreams come to an end

Whose to say you can't

Be free to what you want

Don't let them hold you back

Pull you into the black

Leave them behind

And all your scars inside

Now you are gone

Now you are gone

All you have to do

Is believe in yourself

Nothing can be done

If it's three against one

And not helping yourself

Be bigger than the sun

To shine light on the dark

Scare them all away

Scare them all away

So listen to my advice

Listen to my advice

Reach as high as you can

Make your dreams come true

Whose to say you can't

Make it happen for you

Don't let them hold you back

Pull you into the black

Leave them behind

And all your scars inside

You don't need anyone else

Except yourself

They'll slow you down

Pull you to the ground

Reach up to the sky

Make the nightmares die

Don'nt let them hold you back

Pull you into the black

Leave them behind

With your scars inside

You can make it on your own

Be bigger than the sun

Now you are gone

Now you are gone

'Who's' not 'whose'
You're improving significantly. Keep it up.

Powerful emotional write here.
I like this, flows so well.

The scars and the dark
the shadow of the darkness.
The overwhelming sense of loss and the repetition of the finale lines.
You definitely moved me and should have done so to everyone who took a stop here.
The message of showing the scars, or letting them go is open to the reader.

Nice work Ms. Lockheart
