Reminiscing in a flame

Reminiscing in a flame

A Poem by Tobias Rasmussen

Glowing in the dark are the cinders of my past
Every fond memory of you have loomed through a veil of tears
I am broken now, have you had your cheers?
I have come to acceptance that I am free at last

You were my comrade
You were my fun
You were my everlasting summer
you were my confidential and friend

Every ember is a song and a laugh
I remember them all, I really do.
The one with the dinner and the new shoes.
They are the times we spent and had.

I was your kryptonite
I was your pain
I was your writhering
I was your shame

Like a cigarette it burned out too fast
A fleeting moment in my life
Weren't we supposed to be husband and wife.
I have burned fingers and hands, it's sad

We were amazing
We were the best
We were a tragedy
Lets give the fire a rest.

I really like the movement of this poem and may create one using your pattern. It's inspiring. Seeing all the views of a relationship good and bad and having them laid out like black and white. Good piece
