Man In the Moon

Man In the Moon

A Poem by Tobias Rasmussen

Man in the moon,
what a tasteless sight
Out drinking liqour in the middle of night.
Man in the moon,
have you run out of beer?
I can show you a place for beer anywhere.

So the man went down,
took his trustworthy star.
He came to this small weary inn.
Not close not afar.

He went to the front,
with a barrel in hand.
He came with a message
to the man of the land.

He watched closely
in through the windows.
However a sight of wonder
a mighty fight with the pillows.

And in the door stood a dog.
with a pair of glasses on his nose.
He told the moonman
that the keeper was nowhere to be known.

The man in the moon stood on a stool.
He wanted a beer and a pibe full of fun.
He wanted to party
with girls, cows and rum.

So when the pillow fight stopped.
the man sat down his beer.
He spotted the nicest looking person.
He became quite queer.

She was a beauty one to behold.
She was sexy and smoking.
Man in the moon became nervous as f**k.
He felt as if he needed to be woken up.

She looked at him once
His heart beated twice.
The dog in the door barked thrice.
and in on the table came the dancing mice.

The strung the cat his fiddle in hand.
Diddlely dum and a bottle with that.
The mice started dancing.
She was amused by the cat.

The man in the moon
ordered just one more drink.
It would calm his nerves.
Make it harder to think.

When the glass came bottom up,
He went to the lady.
He struck conversation quite bad.
It came out as shady.

She looked at him down and through.
The longer he lingered, a frown she had.t
The man became frightened and shouted out loud.
"I'm sorry pretty lady, that I made you mad."

In through the door
came a horse and a pig.
Man in the moon thought
"hit them with a stick."

An unfortunate turn of events
the man in the moon could not meet ends.
The lady in black left with the horse.
The lady in pink left with the pig.
The dog and the cat went out through the back.
The man in the moon could not handle that.
He went to the bar and got a barrel of beer.
He then took his star and never reappeared.

I would stay on the moon as well. Interesting piece. I want to drink in more of this personality.

:) nice imagery, nice parodies too. I like this, takes me away from the mundane and inspires me to write a little ditty.

Be careful with your rhyming... if it does not rhyme exact... change the word/line/stanza or don't rhyme at all... I have been guilty of this in the past.(and when feeling lazy still am) Read your words aloud so that you can see the rhythm and the word count.. especially for rhyming poems this is important, for if another is to read your poem aloud they need to be able to find the flow very easily or else you risk losing the audience very quickly.

I like they way your brain thinks ... outside the square that is ... not just routine boring stuff. Thanks for sharing Tobias :) x x x
